I think I definitely killed my current rig, no idea what's faulty, but quite unstable lately, and can't even boot or reinstall windows properly since the last few days.
To be frank it's been acting weird for the last year, but since I was very busy and often out of the house, not gaming wasn't bothering me. Guess 5 years of overclocking brought it slowly to an end. My Corsair ram units have been replaced twice (lifetime warranty).

Long story short, don't wanna spend too much (400/500), as I don't play hardcore anymore. Just a bit of PS2 with ya tarts, a lil' of Star Citizen as the game is developped and then released (will change the GFC by then, right now I have a 970gtx), and some sim racing.

Definitely get 16GB as a minimum, Star Citizen absolutely gobbles up memory and it just gives you the extra flexibility with being able to use another monitor to keep your 1 window of Chrome open that takes up several gigs of RAM by itself....

That CPU doesn't appear to be the overclockable version, but that's not that big of a deal with 6 cores and a pretty generous turbo anyway. The board is pretty low end but ASRock aren't terrible, so yeah overall I'd say a decent deal. If you consider Ryzen instead, you could get a bit more for your money.

I'm not into overclocking anymore. I guess I'm too old for that £%&!

Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7? I'm open to it, but have no idea what's is the best bank for my buck.

Depends where you can buy it from. Comparing it to Scan, your original 8700 deal is pretty sweet when you convert the european rupees into GBP. I'd probably go for that unless you can get a Ryzen 7 2600/2700 for similar money.
